Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Healing Arts Pracitioner?

A healing arts practitioner, also known as Arts for Wellness, Arts for Health, Arts in Medicine, is the practice of providing creative outlets as a holistic method for mind/body wellness. You may find practitioners in healthcare, public health settings, or private practice.

Is Creative Wellness the same as therapy?

Creative wellness sessions are not therapy; however, the practice has therapeutic benefits.

I do not diagnose or psychoanalyze; rather, I walk with you through your experience, empathize with you, and help you use the creative process to transmute emotions, and release them through an art medium. This can be done through painting, writing, or collage.

I am not creative or artistic. Will your services still benefit me?

Yes!

Creative expression is about exploring your inner voice and having the willingness to bring that voice forward onto paper. It is also about connection to your roots or deeper self where you can discover inspiration and meaning. There is no "right" way to express yourself creatively. What is important is being present and open to the possibilities of what you may discover about yourself.

How should I prepare and what should I expect from a Creative Wellness session?

To prepare for a session, please find a quiet spot in your home or favorite place in nature. Make sure you have connectivity for virtual sessions and ample time for preparation. This is your self-care time.

Before sessions, I like to light a candle or palo santo, make a cup of my favorite tea, and set the lighting to a warm amber. You are welcome to do the same or other self-care routine to prepare for your session.

Do I have to make a large investment for art supplies?

Absolutely not! Any supplies you have in your reach is perfect for any session. Sessions are focused on the creative process, rather than an outcome or masterpiece. We can work together to find supplies you may need, or create a session around supplies you already have. Before scheduling a session, we can go over your needs during a discovery call.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that emergencies may arise. Please contact me by email with a 24-hour notice. You have the option to receive a refund or reschedule for a future date. Late cancellations will have a late fee of $22.50 or 50% of the cost of the class.

Clients who are no-shows and have not given notice for a need to cancel/reschedule will not receive a refund for the session.
